Red Ink Brand brings a wealth of consulting experience, particularly in the political arena. Founder Cece Woods has built a loyal following through her activism and hard-hitting investigative reporting, establishing herself as a powerful voice with the ability to influence public opinion. Leveraging her extensive media expertise, Woods has crafted winning strategies for every political campaign she has touched.
In 2020, Red Ink Brand guided the campaigns of Bruce Silverstein and Steve Uhring, the top two vote-getters in the Malibu City Council race. Running on a platform to “clean up city hall,” their victories led to immediate reform, beginning with the resignation of former City Manager Reva Feldman within weeks of their swearing-in.
In 2024, Woods once again deployed her winning strategy to secure the re-election of Bruce Silverstein and Steve Uhring, defeating a well-funded, hard-line opposition. Both candidates claimed the top two spots in the November election, with Silverstein publicly thanking Woods during the swearing-in ceremony on December 9, 2024.
Woods’ activism also played a pivotal role in Malibu’s landmark December 2019 City Council decision to ban rodenticides, passed unanimously after years of grassroots pressure. She worked alongside local environmentalists, lending her platform and visibility to protests and advocacy efforts that forced action.
In the wake of the Woolsey Fire in 2018, when Malibu’s leadership failed to provide disaster relief or deliver on campaign promises, Woods spearheaded a recall effort against two council members she had previously helped elect. This bold move underscored her commitment to accountability and to putting the community above politics.
Her media and campaign strategy work stretches back more than a decade. In 2016, she built a comprehensive multimedia campaign for the “Team Malibu” slate, deploying print, digital, and social platforms to secure three seats on the council. In 2015, she led the “No on W” media campaign through her publication The Local Malibu, producing a special print edition that helped secure victory with 60% of the vote. The same year, she joined community activists in a successful battle to save a century-old sycamore tree at the Malibu Lagoon.
Woods’ first major foray into local activism came in 2014, when she supported Measure R, a ballot measure to curb large retail chains and protect Malibu’s rural coastal character. The measure passed with 60% of the vote. Even earlier, her involvement in the controversial Malibu Lagoon Restoration Project placed her at the center of a high-profile environmental battle that drew global attention and galvanized her role as both activist and publisher.
Through Red Ink Brand, Woods has consistently combined media savvy, grassroots engagement, and uncompromising advocacy to deliver results, reshaping not just campaigns, but the political and environmental landscape of Malibu itself.
Woods remains active in Los Angeles County politics, currently leading multiple campaigns, including Tonia Arey’s run for LA County Supervisor in District 3 and serving as a consultant for former Sheriff Alex Villanueva’s 2026 bid to reclaim the office.
